NCB Arrests Television Actress For Pouring Drugs In Mumbai

A 30 year old television actress was arrested by the narcotics control bureau after she allegedly caught buying drugs in Mumbai, an official said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off the NCB officials apprehended the actress while she was allegedly receiving ganja from a person at Machimar locality in Versova area of Andheri on Saturday.

The anti-drug agency seized 99 gram ganja from their possession, the official said. The NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede’s team laid a trap and caught the actress while accepting the ganja from Faisal Yasin Shaikh age 20, to be a street peddler operating in Versova.

The actress, an engineering graduate, has acted in some serials and a Hindi film. The NCB action has its origins in its investigation of the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

A case was registered against all the accused under provisions of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act, the actress and Faisal were produced before a holiday court and remanded in NCB custody till November 8, adding that the NCB was conducting a probe into the case.

The amount seized falls under the category of small quantity, which attracts a year’s RI and fine of rupees 10,000. Advocate Ayaz Khan, who appeared for the actress, said he would move court for bail. During their questioning, it came to light that the seized drug was sourced from one Deepak Rathuar a resident of Versova, who was also later arrested.
