The much-awaited trailer of Omung Kumar's PM
Narendra Modi hit the Internet on Wednesday night and it occupied a spot on
the trends list within no time. The two-and-half minute trailer showcases the
life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Vivek Oberoi, who plays the titular role in the film,
manages to get the appearance right. However, the actor is not entirely
convincing as Prime Minister. The trailer touches upon the most important
events of PM Modi's life, which includes his association with the Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh, his days as the Gujarat Chief Minster and of course, the
2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Boman Irani, who plays the role of business tycoon Ratan
Tata and Manoj Joshi, who features as BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president
Amit Shah, make a blink-and-miss appearance in the trailer.
Oberoi tries an impression of Modi in scenes throughout the
trailer. The 2-minute-20-second trailer has the Company actor shouting
"Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Chetavni deta hoon main Pakistan ko.
Agar dobara hum par haath uthaya, toh haath kaat doonga." Filmmaker Omung
Kumar seems to have encapsulated the most important bits of PM Narendra Modi's
journey in his film.
From the word go, the trailer of PM Narendra Modi biopic
looks like what we already know about the Prime Minister's already
much-in-the-open life. Vivek Oberoi does a poor impression of PM Modi in the
trailer. He tries to get Modi's mannerisms in place, but tries is all he does.
For a man like Modi, who we see on our TV sets almost every day, Oberoi comes
across as a mighty weak impression of the Indian Prime Minister.
Such a big personality Narendra Modi, and what a waste of
talent in casting Vivek Oberoi. This could be the role of his lifetime but
instead he completely missed the shot and looks irritating and devastated in
every shot of the film. Being an Omang Kumar’s film I hope the direction could
be good, but to go with the trailer, it’s a complete disappointment.
The movie will release on 5th April 2019.
