Ashwin Mankads Buttler | Sparks Outrage

It is just the start of IPL 2019 and another controversy happened. It is nothing new now, IPL without controversy. Every season bring its own controversy from Harbhajan slapping Shreesanth or Match fixing row. But this time the controversy is a bit different and surprising.

Ravichandran Ashwin, Kings XI Punjab skipper, 'mankaded' Jos Buttler, inflicting a massive blow on Rajasthan Royals in their chase of 185 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Monday night. Jos Buttler had given Rajasthan Royals a flying start in their run-chase and looked unstoppable after scoring his seventh half-century in the Indian PremierLeague (IPL).

However, spinner Ravinchandran Ashwin put an end to Buttler's stay at the crease with one of the most controversial dismissals ever seen in the history of the IPL. After Ravichandran Ashwin dismantled the bails, Punjab made an appeal for 'mankading'.

The Punjab captain exchanged a few words with Buttler, who was clearly out of the crease. The spinner paused before delivering the ball and took the bails off. The third umpire gave the England batsman out.

"Look it was very instinctive. It wasn't planned or anything like that. It's there within the rules of the game. I don't know from where the understanding of the Spirit of the Game comes," Ashwin said at the post-match press conference.

The mode of dismissal is permissible as per ICC Rule 41.16 of playing conditions, according to which there is no need to warn the batsman as was the case in earlier times.

Various former cricketers and fans criticized R Ashwin brutally for not being in the spirit of the game. Accordingly, Buttler should be warn first about leaving the crease early.

Well these things always happens in the game of cricket. One correct or incorrect moment just changes the game completely. But time will tell whether R Ashwin will be applauded for this or he is going to regret that for the rest of his life.
